Why is Charter Communications the only cable provider in Fort Worth, Texas?

We live in Fort Worth, Texas. The only cable provider in our area is Charter Communications. In other surrounding areas such as Arlington and Irving, and Dallas - AT%26amp;T U-verse, Time Warner and Comcast are available. Isn't this considered a monopoly? Why aren't the other cable providers allowed to service our area? What can I do as a citizen to request these other providers to be made available in my area?|||Most city councils vote on who can come into a certain area, it sounds as if the city council has made a decision to allow only Charter in. This is done because a town makes money off the company providing the service, they charge a rate per telephone pole for them to string the cable.

To change this you will have to go to the city council and request they allow other providers, if this doesn't work then you will have to see if you can get it on a ballot to allow other cable companies to enter into the town.

Have you looked at dish network or Direct TV?

Good luck and dont get discouraged dealing with the idiots in city hall.|||Hey! Actually there are quite a few cable companies in fort worth, TX. Comcast is the only BIG cable company.

There are quite a few small business cable providers. Take a look at the link!
